This website is mainly an intricate SEO experiment. For those of you unfamiliar, SEO is part of your online marketing strategy and involves producing quality content.

“I decided to build the best damn blog on the planet and if that is not SEO, I do not know what is.”

Dong Lover, PhD.

The meat of this experiment is really doing the bare minimum of SEO, focusing only on important metrics, trying to endure the pain of the real novice bloggers out there.

While I joke a lot on this blog, a whole lot of it is cope. I lost my dad then my sanity and now I am adapting to a world where we cannot even publicly oppose genocide(!s).

Wikipedia Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the quality and quantity of website traffic to a website or a web page from search engines. SEO targets unpaid traffic (known as “natural” or “organic” results) rather than direct traffic or paid traffic. Unpaid traffic may originate from different kinds of searches, including image search, video search, academic search, news search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

SEO Science

This page is a WIP.

I work in SEO. Yeah, I don’t exactly love the industry either; however, I decided to do something about it instead of moaning. I am trying to fix it… by just being a blogger and see how it all pans out.

The problem

SEO industry is broken. It has been for a long time. It is time someone says that out loud. HN is loud about it. Do you know what is the problem with SEO?

It is a guessing game that is a minesweeper in a trenchcoat. There is Enough snake oil salesman in this industry that USA wants to invade the SEO Twitter.

Some of the SEO myths otherwise sane people buy into are crazy.
So what is the solution?

White hat SEO Gandalf

I won’t blame you if you don’t know John Mueller. He is sort of a contact point between the Google Search Team and the SEO hyenas such as me.

Just listen to him, that is it. John and the team are Google SEO. If you don’t like people but like reading documentation, I recommend everyone to read the ever-evolving:

Google Search Documentation

I have been in WordPress SEO for like… 10 years. In those 10 years, I do not think I met a person who actually read this fundamental SEO document before jumping straight into installing WordPress and one of many SEO plugins for it.

That link should be the bread and butter of any decent SEO.

Content is the king

You hear this eeeeeeeeeeeeevry SEO conference. In jest. Sometimes people even say it with a straight face.

I know I can eventually write bangers — I have all the motivation I need, and I slowly working on multiple projects that ultimately lead to the purpose of my life.

With this website, I have a couple of “SEO” goals in mind. Terms google returns awful results for:

  1. Why should I have a website
  2. How to make KDE Plasma themes work
  3. Best KDE Plasma themes

Things I want to rank for, just for kicks:

  1. Dongle, obviously
  2. Dongl, pretty achievable
  3. Dong lover
  4. Don Glover

Tags, todos, notes:

  • This page will become a silo page
  • Really poor content for a person who has been in the industry for so long, actually embarrassing
  • Needs lots of work
  • However, this page is not fun, so you know,
